24.01./20:25h Gidam

❝The curiosity for rhythmic ideas and for musical balance connects Mai Linh and Lucas Etcheverria in their duo “Gidam”. A name, that reflects the intersection of Portuguese and Vietnamese languages. The two young jazz musicians met in 2019 to study in Hamburg and have been exploring the vastness of their playing together since last year. On this evening, the duo will present their interpretation of well-known jazz standards and Brazilian music on Hamburg Stream. Combining a warm, mellow guitar playing and a gentle voice, embracing the details, Gidam attempts to give a spark of hope for the present time.❞

❝Two independent rivers collide and generate a spark. They start to play with the fire, fan the flames, without letting them get out of control. Plus turns into minus, dark turns into bright, warm turns into cold, water turns into fire. Everyone is invited to watch, experience or ignite. The show is over, but the embers remain. To make their debut, the duo returns to the city, which gave inspiration and a grounding for their musical activity before their studies in Berlin.❞

13.12./20:25h Johannes Bahlmann Solo – This Is My Music

“Pianist Johannes Bahlmann has been writing music for himself and others for over 40 years. In the 80s he was a fan of modern jazz; accordingly his early works were inspired by Shorter, Coltrane, Coleman, Tyner… Later he also dealt with genres outside of jazz: funk, blues groove and rock. He says: “In the last few years I have taken up writing fugues again, 300 years after Bach there are really new sounds coming out. I will perform two of them in concert. Bartok really impressed me, so I wrote “Snook”, which opens up the possibility of multi-tone playing. ” Influenced by musician friends from the Balkans, Johannes also writes in unusual time signatures. “And then I am always looking for beauty in melody, which ballads are suitable for. This is my music.” “

This concert is sponsored by the Sendecki/Spiegel Fonds, supported by Warner Music Europe.

29.11./20:25h Harold López-Nussa – Te Lo Dije

“With this very special partner stream from La Habana, Hamburg.Stream presents the incredibly talented Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa and his new album “Te Lo Dije” (“I told you”). Like with most musicians, COVID-19 has grounded what looked like a highly promising year for Harold. Your support is needed and will mean a lot to him.

His music reflects the richness of Cuban music. He studied classical piano in the best schools in Cuba, and his career gracefully spans a variety of styles, from his recording of Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Fourth Piano Concerto with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra to his role on the album Ninety Miles, where he plays with jazz stars David Sánchez, Christian Scott and Stefon Harris.

“A few notes from Harold Lopez-Nussa are enough to make you smile right away. The Cuban pianist and his band exude such a liberating joie de vivre that you might not even realize ridiculously complex their music actually is, which they present on the album “”Te Lo Dije””. “” – Ralf Dombrowski, Audio 09 2020″

27.10./20:25h Boris Netsvetaev with Strings

Classical and jazz musicians can play together without any problems – the right music just has to be created for it”- says jazz pianist Boris Netsvetaev, who used the free time during the pandemic to find his way back to his original mission: that of a classical composer. In the newly created program, he tries out the answer to his question: the strings of his usual piano trio arrangement interpret the notated parts, while the composer himself leaves himself space for improvisations on the grand piano – a highly exciting, multicultural approach, the result of which we are looking forward to!
